Staying Fit While Managing Your Event

by Jul 6, 2014

It can be hard at times to execute an event or conference, stick to a diet, and stay fit. Getting back into the routine, after you return home can become burdensome and tough after your event has sucked out all of your energy. I have learned that the more I focus on staying fit onsite, the better I feel about myself when I return home. Here are some quick tips to use while you are offsite managing your event away from home:

Start Early

Even though you may be getting up at the break of dawn anyway while onsite, try to get up just 20 minutes earlier and workout. 20 minutes is all you need. Getting in a quick workout will help you start your day with more energy, and get you off to a great start.

Eat!

I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve gone a majority of the day without eating while onsite. If you can’t sit down and have a meal, make sure you are getting in small bites throughout the day to sustain your energy. Snack on fruit, high fiber granola bars, and veggies. Making sure you eat,  will help you when you are tapped out for the day and the adrenaline is gone.

Make wise choices

Sometimes being at a hotel or venue for days, you can get used to not eating properly. Hotels like to caterer to their planners, ensuring they are eating well. Additionally, the food you may have ordered for the attendees although very yummy, can be high in calories!  To ensure that you don’t come home 5 pounds heavier, make sure you make wise choices with the food you eat.  Try lean grilled meats, natural nuts, fruits and veggies to keep you alert and on your toes. Ohh – and stay away from the muffins, danishes, scones, and desserts (if you can).

Get some sleep

I know, sleep might be hard to come by when you are  up all day and night executing the perfect event.  But when your last event of the evening is done, try to hit the bed as soon as possible and get some rest so that you are well rested for the next day’s events.

Stay Hydrated

It is very important to keep yourself hydrated while onsite. Keep your water bottle close, and keep refilling it. Water increases oxygen flow to the brain and helps you restore balance to your body. Make sure you are getting in your water – your body will thank you for it!
