A Well-Being Check for Eventprofs

by May 14, 2019

It’s hard to run away from the fact that event planning is one of the most stressful jobs in the world. Event planning is right up there with military personnel, fire-fighters, and policemen. It rates close to those who save lives for a living, and when you look closer at our roles, we do that too! With so many stressful moments of planning events, event planners can benefit from useful tips on how to ease the stress of the day to day and enhancing well-being.

It’s not just about work-life balance, it’s about well-being. Every planner should know what their wants and needs are in order to gauge if they are moving in the right direction. Although we may look at our professional lives and determine our aspirations, we need to look at our personal lives and figure out what our goals and dreams are. When doing this, it helps set up the foundation for well-being. Ensuring that your professional self and your personal self is taking care of.

How can you find out if you have a healthy well-being or not? Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit down in your favorite spot and grab a journal or piece of paper and jot down notes around these areas to help guide you and center your mind to focus on your well-being.

What is important to you?

When you are in an industry of service, it can be hard to think about what is important to you. This is because we are normally thinking about how can we serve others. However, putting aside some time to think about what is important to you in your career and in your personal life is vital. Knowing what holds value in each of these areas help to focus your energies so that you don’t waste valuable energy on things that do not matter.

How do you envision your future?

With all the stress coming at event planners left and right, thinking about our future can be the furthest things from our minds. Yet envisioning the future can help you in the direction in which you will follow today. Allow yourself to delve deep into your thoughts and capture moments and feelings of what you would like to see for yourself in our career and personal life. Jot down some ideas to help you get started. You’ll be amazed at some of the dreams and visions that you have for yourself if you take the time to wonder.

What will it take to get there

By now, excitement can take over because you are tapping into that area that you rarely explore. This is called inspiration and creativity.  Fine tune your lists of what is important to you and your dreams of the future. Every idea should also have a few points on how you can start the process to accomplish your point. It can be even the smallest step. Having just a few ways to start paying more attention to what is important, or moving towards your dream goal, is better than having no plan at all.

What can you do to be intentional?

Don’t get caught up in the detail of the ways to get there. Making sure you are intentional about starting is pretty critical. Take those small steps and start doing them. Don’t make it difficult and put dates to it – start right away if you can. Take away your limitations and move forwards your goals. When we do this, we are operating in what is important to us and we are making our dreams happen. When we are doing that, we are helping our well being. We are satisfying our needs.

How can you sustain your progress?

Sustaining progress comes with doing this process over and over again over time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found myself stuck in a rut about my life, and doing this process really helps me to become unstuck. To find my purpose again, and to live my life again according to what is important to me. When you find yourself being spread very thin, centering yourself around these four steps can put you on the right path.

Well-being isn’t an area to be dismissed. It is a real and true facet of a person’s life that should be paid attention to. Some people realize that they might not be as balanced as they would like to be and will make the necessary steps to change. Others might find that they are excited about starting something new and fulfilling. We should always evaluate where we are, and where we are going because that keeps us always evolving and changing. Staying stagnant is what really can kill our luster for life. So always inviting in fresh perspective to help us sort out our lives, and breaking our script can ultimately help us have a happy well being
